The Korean Culture and Information Service (KOCIS) is seeking its sixth group of Honorary Reporters to work with the team at Korea.net throughout the end of 2016 and through 2017.
This outstanding group of individuals will interact online with people from all around the world, letting them know about the breadth and variety of life in Korea and about their lives overseas as Koreans. Our group of Honorary Reporters will include both Koreans and non-Koreans, living both in Korea and elsewhere, creating a global network of writers, bloggers and reporters. It is their stories that make our lives richer and more diverse.
■ Both Koreans and non-Koreans qualify to be Honorary Reporters. They should be interested in sharing their stories and in interacting online, emphasizing both the similarities between Korea and the world, and the differences between Korean society and other societies around the world.
■ They should be active users of social media : Snapchat, Instagram, Tumblr, Facebook, blogs, Twitter, Weibo, Naver, Daum, et cetera.
■ They should be able to generate content in English.
* Note : we highly recommend that both our Korean and non-Korean Honorary Reporters, including people both in Korea or those who live elsewhere, have at least intermediate written and spoken communication skills in both Korean and English.
■ Write about the humanities, arts, sports, cuisine, tourism, et cetera. If you are a non-Korean living here, write about your day-to-day life, focusing on the peculiarities and habits of modern Korean society. If you live overseas, focus on your life there as a South Korean national. Also, if you live overseas, you can write about any Korean event, festival or exhibition that comes through your city.
■ Participate in events run by KOCIS and related organizations, such as Korean Cultural Centers and Korean embassies or consulates.
■ Support promotional activities run by Korea.net and KOCIS, both online and offline.
■ Honorary Reporters will have the opportunity to attend many Korean cultural programs, both at home and abroad.
■ Honorary Reporters will be able to take part in events run by KOCIS and related organizations.
■ Honorary Reporters will have the chance to generate content at Korea.net and at The Korea Blog.
■ Honorary Reporters will be paid a very small honorarium for their work that will be published on the Korea.net website (http://www.korea.net).
■ Honorary Reporters will receive a formal letter of appointment, name cards and tokens of our appreciation.
4. Application Process
■ Fill out the form and submit it in one email to both firstname.lastname@example.org and email@example.com.
■ If your Area of Expertise is "Photography or Video," please attach a small picture or video that could be used to introduce Korea in your country, or a link that shows your work online.
■ Application Period : From Oct. 8 to Nov. 25, 2016
■ Announcement : Dec. 2, 2016, both at the Korea Blog (http://koreanetblog.blogspot.kr) and via your personal email address.
■ Formal Launch Ceremony : Dec. 7, 2016
